BOWHUNTER SAFETY COURSE

The Bowhunter safety course will be held at the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen's Club house on Old Skiway Dr. in Oquossoc on  Saturday August 7th and Sunday August 8th 9:00 to 3:00 pm both days. Registration required by July 10th.

YOUTH OLYMPIC STYLE ARCHERY PROGRAM

Mac Dudley Archery Director of the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen's Club and Certified NAA Level II National Archery Coach will be providing her annual Olympic Style Archery Program for youth's again this year at the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen's club house on Old Skiway Drive in Oquossoc.

Mac states that "each session reviews and builds on upon the lessons learned the previous day. These session includes indoor and outside activities. The indoor activities include eye dominance check, archery safety rules and procedures such as proper shoes and clothing, safety equipment and equipment handling, parts of a bow and arrow, archery range rules and procedures, whistle commands and the nine steps to shooting bow and arrow. The outside activities include a warm-up exercise, equipment check, archery range rules and procedures review, Nine step to shooting review, shooting practice activity, shooting problems identification and correction activity, shooting games to enhance shooting accuracy and a cool down stretch at the end of each session."
Mac also states that "when the students are finished with this program they will all be archery safety experts, will know how to shoot Olympic style and will be able to practice their shooting skills safely on their own."

Mac suggest that for the first day to be dressed comfortable for the outdoor portion of the activities. Safety rules for clothing and hair will be discussed at the first session but, requires participants to wear sneakers or shoes (no sandals or open toe shoes) long hair needs to be tied back and no necklaces unless the necklace is a medical identification necklace. Mac also suggest that youths who are interested in participating to register early as the class size is limited.

The three 2 hour classes and will be held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday August 4th, 5th and 6th 1:00-3:00pm and is geared towards youth ages 9 and up.
